Where there’s manure, there’s a pony!

Is this bright optimist you?  Or are you already heading off for a shovel, cussing and wondering why you wanted a horse in the first place?

Even if you’re of the ‘glass half full’ nature, what if you’re closely involved with a negative neddy or nelly and their constant ‘glass half empty’ outlook is starting to wear you down?  Today’s post is for you!

First up, it’s really important to differentiate between a person who’s emotionally negative and one who’s simply analytically negative – you know, the rational type who looks at all the possible outcomes and presents the worst case scenarios as a natural progression from that.

It’s easy to feel like those people are downers, but the information they deliver is often vital to know – and thank heavens for people like this or who knows what kind of shemozzle we’d all be in, leaping into all kinds of situations expecting every outcome to magically be awesome even if there’s no way in reality it would be.

So when you separate them from the ‘good news/bad news’ scenarios they talk about, are they still upbeat people?  Are they among the most energetic or kind and helpful people you know?  Then let’s give thanks for their thorough and analytical minds and focus on the positives around them.

Young Living Acceptance™ is an awesome essential oil when you’re in constant contact with someone with this nature.  Come to think of it, it’s a beautiful essential oil to help us accept people in general and our greatest critics: ourselves!

We all have our quirks and differences that hopefully mostly make us special – but sometimes can be challenging and not so great.  Right now, I’m only talking about the somewhat innocent and non-threatening/non-debilitating flaws.  We can work on improving our own foibles and faults and focus on that rather than focusing on what we perceive to be other people’s downsides and how they could fix them.  And Young Living Acceptance™ is a very helpful tool for all of the above.

young living acceptanceThis gorgeous-smelling essential oil blend is lovely for topical application behind the ears and on your wrists – inhale often and use as your 100% natural ‘signature fragrance’.  Young Living Acceptance™ includes the oils of

  • Coriander (Coriandrum sativum) for calming
  • Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) for balancing and relaxing
  • Blue tansy (Tanacetum annuum) for self-control and easing the creases out of cranky pants
  • Neroli (Citrus sinensis) used in ancient Egypt for unifying mind, body and spirit
  • Ylang ylang (Cananga odorata) for confidence and equilibrium

So that’s the milder side of the picture – the easy one to sort, really.

Now let’s look at the emotionally negative/energetically negative and draining people.  Being around those people has the potential to really seriously impact our lives.

Sometimes cutting the ties, making the break and choosing to not spend any of our time with them is the only safe and healthy route to go.  It can be hard to let go of friends and even some family members.  Maybe the friends were childhood buddies and over time, their attitudes have become toxic.  Maybe they always have been but for some reason – loyalty, feeling sorry for them, hoping you can help them to see the brighter side of life – you’ve stuck by them.  This is a kindly thing but it gets to a point when you have to ask the tough question: are you being unkind and damaging to yourself by trying to do that?  Are you putting them ahead of your own well being?  If someone has earned it and it’s just a rough patch, hang in there.  But if not, it could be time to walk away.  There was a personal development seminar years ago where they talked about taking care of yourself so you can take care of others.  This one person you’re putting ahead of yourself could be costing your health and happiness, and in turn, prevent you from being the person you’re here to be and shining your light to help many more people.

If you can’t really cut those ties, then here are a couple of essential oils that might help you to protect your own energy and feelings when you’re around that person.

Young Living White Angelica™

This exquisite essential oil blend contains a complex array of singles to strengthen the aura and neutralise negative energy  – such oils as myrrh and sandalwood (two of the 12 Oils of Ancient Scripture, high in sesquiterpenes to elevate the mind), spruce (fosters a feeling of being grounded), melissa (brings out gentleness, calming and relaxing), rose (creates a harmonious, magnetic energy to attract love and joy) and Angelica archangelica (helps to let go of negative feelings).

Diffuse, inhale directly from the bottle, and apply to shoulders and crown of the head and chakra points.  I like to apply it to my palms, smooth them together then move them all around my body and head as if I’m creating a beautifully-scented protective energetic force field.

Young Living Valor®

One of Young Living’s most treasured blends, Valor® and its counterpart Valor II help to instil a sense of calm confidence and trust in your own inner strength.  I love to sit down and put half a dozen drops into my palms in the morning, inhale deeply as I swirl them together then smooth over the soles of my feet and hold my palms over the soles for a minute or three.  It’s a great way to start the day and also a wonderful preface to any kind of ‘feelings’ oils application, as it centres and balances me to create a receptive environment for those other oils to work.

Young Living Harmony™

If only we could have a world of peace and harmony – and the more we focus on going out into the world feeling harmonious in ourselves, the more that will spread to others.  Shine your own light so bright that you inspire the flicker to grow into a more positive flame in others, too.  Young Living Harmony™ has a glorious scent that smells wonderful on both men and women, so substitute it for your commercial perfume or aftershave and know that your skin will be absorbing just good stuff and no nasties.  Meanwhile, you’ll be feeling harmonious and help bring a sense of being in tune when you’re around others.

Harmony™ is perfect for diffusing, direct inhalation from the bottle, adding to carrier oil for a blissful massage, adding to Young Living Bath Gel Base for an uplifting and calming shower, along with topical application behind your ears or anywhere that grabs you (in accordance with safe usage).

Essential oils are potent, so as always, please follow directions on the bottle and the usual guidelines for safe use of authentic essential oils.

Please ensure you are choosing a brand with complete transparency from seed to seal, such as Young Living.  You can learn in this short video why we only ever recommend and choose Young Living oils and love them so much!
