In case you missed my earlier posts, I’ve been moving house and getting lots of help with taking away some of the stress of that process and making it as painless as possible.
In the last of this series of moving tips, we’re getting into the practicalities of packing and unpacking. And how to bring forth your clarity and common sense to help the process. Because when they go absent without leave, it can really slow things down and muddle things up — and have you reaching for Stress Away™ again!
That’s what happened to me. It started well enough. I managed to stay fairly methodical in the packing process, which helped tremendously when faced with wall to wall boxes at the other end. And when those boxes are a uniform size and clearly labelled as mine were? Awesome!
When it came time to unpack my many books with bookcases at the ready, it was going to be a cinch. Start with the box labelled ‘Bookcase 1: Shelf 1: Left side’. Follow with ‘Bookcase 1: Shelf 1: Middle’ and move on to ‘Bookcase 1: Shelf 1: Right side.’ You get the picture.
What actually happened was this.
I remembered a last-minute tossing of a Random-But-Very-Important object into the top of one of these many boxes and didn’t note it on the box. (Rookie Error #1.) And I suddenly needed it. Urgently.
A man on a mission, I started pulling off the lids, tossed the lids out of the road and started poking around in the boxes. (Rookie Error #2.) You see, the descriptions of the contents were written on the lids of these boxes.
I didn’t find the gizmo I was searching for. And now I had a bunch of carefully organised books in boxes with nothing to tell me which was which.
And I was kicking myself twice because there’s a great way to prevent these kinds of brain strains and it comes in a bottle. It’s an essential oil blend made by Young Living called Common Sense™.
I should have put a couple of drops in my cupped hands and inhaled before I went anywhere near my packing boxes. Common Sense™ essential oil is formulated to enhance rational decision-making abilities. And those rational decision-making abilities would have had me putting the lid back on each box after checking it.
The gizmo still hasn’t turned up so I’ve started massaging a drop of Clarity™ onto my temples. Its peppermint and rosemary have been used for many years to help with clarity.
If you have the Everyday Oils Collection, peppermint alone is a tremendous aid for this kind of thing. (For help with ordering any of these oils, click here.)
The moral of today’s post? A few drops of prevention would have saved me quite a few hours of frustration and cure! And hopefully these tips will save you the same.
Enjoy the good oil daily.
