“Live in the sunshine, swim in the sea, drink the wild air.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
(Companion oil: Young Living Transformation™)
Do the words, “Spa Day!” fill you with yearning and a touch of desperation? Whether you need a holiday or you need a holiday to recuperate from your holiday, a DIY spa treat without packing bags or paying spa prices could be the solution !
By putting the money you’ll save towards setting yourself up with some beautiful Young Living essential oils, skin care products and a light digestive cleansing regime instead, you’ll be able to treat yourself for quite some time and get much more value and mileage for your dollar.
We’ve posted on so many topics now, this post is a refresher course with links to the various components you can use to build your DIY spa day. And menfolk, don’t click away just yet — most of the tips below can be blokified easily and you might be surprised how relaxed you feel by the end of it. The weekend is nigh, so let’s get started !
Getting Into the Spirit
No matter how recent or distant your New Year resolutions, you could use this time for contemplation and renewing your focus on plans you made at the start of the year.
With that in mind, I’m recommending Young Living Transformation™ as your designated diffusing blend for your home spa day/weekend.
At first inhalation, you’ll pick up lemon and peppermint notes. Lemon is cheerful and peppermint is energising, but they aren’t oils we instantly associate with feelings, so you might be wondering what makes the blend so transformative !
But a potent alchemy takes place when humble lemon and peppermint are combined expertly with certain others. Transformation™ also includes the sesquiterpene-rich oils of sandalwood and Sacred Frankincense, both treasured for their spiritual and mind-elevating properties. (You can continue reading about Transformation™ here.)
Being a light oil in consistency, you’ll find Transformation™ works beautifully in your diffuser. You can let go of having to think or schedule yourself by putting it on a timer for a 15 minute oil mist every couple of hours throughout the day.

Ralph Waldo’s Prescription
Get up early on your DIY spa day and take a drive someplace that makes you feel great to be alive. If the ocean is an easy drive, you can follow Emerson’s quote to the letter. Let your skin take in some essential vitamin D for five minutes before you slip, slop, slap.
Smooth the Dimples
Dry scrubbing is an easy, cost-effective and awesome way to stimulate circulation and help flush out toxins. You need to dry scrub before you shower, as it brings toxins to the surface that need to be cleansed away. Applying Young Living Cel-Lite Magic™ ready-made massage oil regularly before going to bed can help tone the appearance of your skin texture in targeted areas. Bathing Beauties
No pampering time would be complete without a relaxing bath for unwinding and letting your cares wash away. Click here for our guide to this soothing ritual. Gather all the ingredients you need to create your cocoon and let everyone else in the house know you and your spa zone are off limits until a designated time.
Nourish Your Skin
Make yourself a calming face mask to apply while you’re soaking in the tub. Slather generously over your neck, décolletage, shoulders and upper arms, too, then lie back with the warm water lapping and allow your thoughts to drift to whatever makes you happy. Commit to doing more of that — and imagine it multiplying faster than an accountant at tax time.
Infuse Your Hair
Take advantage of the steamy warmth in the bathroom and slather your hair in natural oils which will absorb nicely in that environment.
Have an Alcohol-Free Weekend
No, I’m not talking about shoplifting from your nearest bottle-o ! While personally I feel a glass of good quality red wine regularly has many benefits for wellbeing, it’s easy to slide into excess and your liver can be taxed. Lighten its load and you might find it so easy, you decide to give yourself a two-day alcohol-free zone once a week, or only indulge on alternate nights.
Spring Clean your Liver
Make hay while the liver load is lighter and give it some extra TLC during your spa time. Here’s a guide we made earlier.
Young Living also has a couple of essential oil blends targeted at helping you to look after your liver health. JuvaCleanse™ and JuvaFlex™ can both be applied topically over the liver and you can massage either into your hands while you’re enjoying your relaxing bath. Search online and you’ll find plenty of feet and hand charts with reflexology points to steer you. From a nutrition standpoint, JuvaPower™ is a tasty vegetable powder with plenty of phytonutrients to bolster your overall vitality, so sprinkle it over anything and everything while you’re spa-ing ! On second thoughts, maybe not on ice-cream.

Laugh
Watch nothing but funny shows or movies as your viewing entertainment. And read funny, uplifting novels or autobiographies. Save all serious or intense fodder for another time. Your spa time is all about lightening up and feeling good. Take care of yourself so you can take care of others when needed.
Have an Early Night
