Authentic melissa essential oil helps ensure cold sores don’t linger longer than usual.

Esssential oil of melissa is steam distilled from aerial parts of the Melissa officinalis plant before flowering. It is a somewhat rarified essential oil, so on the costly side but remember, you only need a touch.  A little goes a long way with essential oils.  Young Living grows Melissa from seed to seal on its St Maries (Idaho) farm, where it all began.  And Young Living has the largest melissa field in the whole, wide world.  Shows how serious they are about providing you with nothing but the best.

If you don’t have any melissa on hand, Young Living Thieves® essential oil blend can be an effective substitute for this tip.  Or check your blends collection to see if you have any that include some melissa, such as Brain Power™ and Forgiveness™.

Dab a tiny amount neat (undiluted) directly onto the spot to help the drying process. Be prepared : it can smart a bit, depending on location. If you want to tone down the sensation, apply a little pure carrier oil such as coconut or Young Living V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex.

And research shows that eating foods rich in the amino acid lysine (meat, fish, eggs, dairy, most fruit and veges) and mimimising those high in the amino acid arginine (nuts, peanuts, coconut, cocoa, blueberries, wheat) can be beneficial in reducing outbreaks, so choose supportive eating habits, too.
