Put a drop of authentic peppermint essential oil on a tissue and rub along ant trails. Repeat as needed.
Essential oils evaporate. That’s why you need to repeat applications somewhat frequently. If the area has a delicate surface, test in an inconspicuous spot first to be sure it does not leave a mark.
In hard floor areas where it’s fine to have some moisture, try making your own peppermint oil spray. Add a dash of natural detergent or Young Living Thieves Household Cleaner to a spray bottle of water with 20 drops of peppermint essential oil. The detergent helps the oil to disperse evenly. Shake the bottle well then spray the ant trail. Repeat as needed.
Dig deep and be patient, as these alternatives bring the peace of mind of not having toxic surface dusts and sprays in your home. And that’s well worth investing a few seconds of time regularly, don’t you reckon?
