If you haven’t yet had some fun with our Test Your Essential Oils Knowledge quiz, please visit yesterday’s post then come right back.
Done? Great! Here are the answers. (We tossed up putting these upside-down just for the fun of it. Maybe next time …)
- (c) Essential oils are also known as ‘the lifeblood of plants’ and extracted from them by various methods.
When you brush against lavender, basil or rosemary in the garden, for instance, and you smell the fragrance released into the air – that’s part of what’s captured within essential oils when they are made.
- (d) Yes, essential oils really are good for insect bites and ouch-y moments.
If you’re curious, here are some of our Young Living favourites for those occasions: Purification® for insect bites, PanAway® and Deep Relief Roll-On® for the clumsy times; LavaDerm Cooling Mist® for after-sun skin care. {Click here to find out how to order.}
- Essential oils are created by (b) Harvesting plant material then steam distilling it, or sometimes (depending on the oil) by cold-pressing it.
That said, it would be a lot of fun if the plant-stomping-in-barrels method worked.
- (d) Yes, essential oils really can be used through topical application, massage and inhalation.
And some other ways, but we’ll talk about another time.
- Ok, this was a bit of a trick question. Technically, essential oils work because of (b) Up to hundreds of chemical constituents naturally contained in their molecules (when properly grown, harvested and distilled/extracted) which are scientifically proven to have specific effects on the body and emotions.
But we’re not discounting magic and the placebo effect. There’s a lot out there we might not be able to measure or quantify but if it works – it works.
This will also connect you up with The Good Oil Team for our personal support and coaching. We'd love to help you on your journey to vibrant well-being the natural way!
