Have you heard of Kegels for the Soul yet? It’s a beautiful meditation practice of “I am,” that we happened upon recently here at The Good Oil Daily. It’s simple, it’s highly effective and we absolutely love it!
Kegels for the Soul were developed – or perhaps intuited is a more apt description – by founder Lillace when she was on a trip in the Middle East and had a profound sense that she was living in a ‘deficit state’ and something in her needed to change.
Just like that, the concept of ‘I am …’ came to her and Kegels for the Soul came into being.
Please head over to explore the fundamentals of how to use the ‘I am …’ statement along with your breathing to do this very lovely, uplifting, calming and centering meditation. Then please come back to read up on our incorporation of certain essential oils that we feel complement and enhance the process in a likewise way.
In a stroke of serendipity, Lillace has some meditations on her site that are perfectly aligned with Young Living essential oil blend names. For starters, there are Hope and Joy.
And the third meditation is ‘I am Courage.’ Young Living doesn’t have a blend with the exact name Courage. But one of the first blends created by inspiring founder D. Gary Young decades ago is called Valor, which means ‘great courage‘. So that’s the one we’re incorporating to use here.
Before we talk about the Young Living blend formulations, let’s look at ways you can incorporate them into your Kegels for the Soul.
Focusing on your breath is a key part of this meditation process, so essential oils are a perfect fit.
One of the simplest and most common ways to use essential oils is via inhalation and when you’re inhaling essential oils, they travel directly through your sense of smell to the limbic system, which is the seat of your emotions. You know all too well how certain smells can transport you instantly to a different time and place, to a memory – be it good or not so flash. Can you imagine what happens when you consciously choose essential oils and use them with intent? They are potent and remarkable gifts of nature to learn to use in your everyday life, that’s for sure.

Three Simple Ways to Use Essential Oils with Kegels for the Soul
- You could open your essential oil bottle and inhale directly from the bottle as you take each inward breath. Quick and easy
- You’ll also love putting a few drops of your chosen oil into your diffuser and have the oil molecules hanging suspended and delicately infusing the air around you as you’re inhaling and exhaling
- One of my very favourite ways to use Young Living ‘feelings’ oils is to put a drop or two on one wrist and gently press both wrists together, then draw them up to my nose and deeply inhale from them, then gently rub my wrists over the outer edges of my ears, behind my ears, press to the nape of my neck, the centre of my forehead and the top of my head. Bring your wrists back up to your nose to commence your ‘I am …’ meditation so you can inhale the purely uplifting and calming fragrance as you practise your Kegels for the Soul. Divine! Try this one and see how you feel.
Young Living Hope™ essential oil blend aids us in reconnecting with our feelings of strength, optimism and inner power. In doing so, we can also restore our faith. This exquisite blend includes melissa (brings out our gentle traits), myrrh (high in sesquiterpenes which are uplifting to the mind) and Northern Lights Black Spruce (grown on Young Living’s farm in British Columbia, Canada, imparts a sense of strength and security, and conducive to meditation).
Young Living Joy™ essential oil blend creates magnetic energy and brings joy to your heart, also helping to release emotional blocks. It includes such essential oils as ylang ylang (balancing for yin and yang), rose (Rosa damascena, helping with balance and harmony, overcoming insecurities and imparting lightness of spirit) and bergamot (creates a sense of security).
Young Living Valor™ essential oil blend (also available as a very handy roll-on) is beautiful as a precursor to using all the other Young Living ‘feelings’ oils, as it imparts a sense of feeling grounded and empowered. If you’re going to choose just one blend to apply to the soles of your feet every morning and night, this is a wonderful one to put on your shortlist! Valor™ includes frankincense (mood elevating, spiritual and uplifting), geranium (fosters peace and hope, helps let go of negative energies) and blue tansy (warm in fragrance and relaxing).
Essential oils are potent, so as always, please follow directions on the bottle and the usual guidelines for safe use of authentic essential oils.
Please ensure you are choosing a brand with complete transparency from seed to seal, such as Young Living. You can learn in this short video why we only ever recommend and choose Young Living oils and love them so much!
