Today we’ll run through all the very easy ways to use it that will help you feel rejuvenated and revived in an instant.
First up, though, let’s take a look at how hydrosols are produced. It all starts with the process of steam distillation of plant material, which is how most essential oils are produced.
During steam distillation, the distiller is packed with raw plant material – in this instance, mature wood of the sandalwood tree. Don’t worry, it’s sustainably produced! More on that shortly.
When done to the highest standard such as Young Living’s, a precise combination of low temperature and low pressure is used to create steam that passes through the plant material at the optimal temperature and pressure to extract the oil with its precious constituents and carry it to the condenser. No high temps and high pressure to rush things along here!
In the condenser, the steam is converted back to a liquid that contains the essential oil that’s been captured – and the oil either floats on top or falls to the bottom depending on the particular oil and its molecular density.
The distillation water is separated from the oil and it’s the distillation water that remains that’s known as a hydrosol.
From an energetic point of view, the hydrosol still contains the properties of the plant. From a physical point of view, the water still contains microscopic quantities of the oil.
So hydrosols still contain many of the same constituents as the essential oil.
