Re-Establish Supportive Routines Straight Away

Companion essential oils:  cedarwood, Young Living Sacred Mountain™ (includes spruce, ylang ylang, balsam fir and cedarwood for feelings of strength and empowerment)

This is kind of like minimising jet lag by switching straight to the local time zone and eating/sleeping times wherever you’re travelling.  Go to bed and eat at your usual times and be ruthless about this.

Before you leave, write down three key routines you have that are fundamental to feeling on track and positive.

A morning walk and quick coffee at your favourite café?  Make finding your new hangout a priority.

Finding new friends?  Meet-ups and voluntary organisations like Rotary and Toastmasters are all great ways to make new connections quickly.  If you’re shy, make contact with the organisers before you go and ask whatever you need to feel more comfortable going along.  Make a beeline for the organiser as soon as you arrive and introduce yourself.  It will become easier from there!

Love your thrice-weekly exercise class?  Schedule a quick run-around of the local options and pick a class to go to within the first week.  It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just needs to happen.  When you’re more settled, you can browse further at your leisure.

Get Grounded, Stay Grounded, Daily

Companion essential oi:s  ylang ylang, Young Living Grounding™ (includes conifers and angelica, ‘the oil of angels’)

When you think of being grounded, what’s the first thing that comes into your head?  Stability? A sense of calm? Someone you want by your side in an emergency?  All things that Grounding essential oil can help foster within yourself.

But how about the physical and energetic side of things?  Being grounded also means having your bare feet in contact with the earth, grass or a wet, sandy beach daily.  And when you’re going through a major life change, it’s one of the most restorative things you can do for your body and soul – and it’s free !  I urge you to read more on the importance of grounding in this post we dedicated to it.

Just Keep Swimming

Companion essential oils: ylang ylang, Present Time™ (includes delicious neroli and spruce for stabilising and promoting confidence)

Take a leaf from dear Dory’s book and just keep swimming.  Staying in the present moment can slow and even stop the spiral of overwhelm and overthinking that can lead to catastrophizing if we’re not careful.  Just keep breathing is also a sound idea!  Focus on one thing at a time, even if you set the timer and a deliberate intention to do so for only 15 minutes.   At the end of that time, reassess how you’re feeling.  Better, I’ll bet.  You’ve got this.  It really will be ok.

Enjoy the good oil daily.
