When you get dressed for the day and discover someone switched your usual garments for cranky pants, it can be hard to shake them off.
Sometimes it’s tempting to not even try. Do you ever find that?
It’s kind of like eating a chunk of chocolate cake for breakfast then proceeding to make it the base of your food pyramid for the rest of the day. After all, unless it’s gluten free or one of those quirky little beetroot-based oddities, cake is primarily made of wheat. Heck, you’re sure there are eggs in there, too, and chocolate is high in something that’s good for you. And wheat is the staff of life, isn’t it? Your healthy eating went out the window with the first piece so why not live for today and do better tomorrow? “In for a penny, in for a pound,” was coined by someone who just waded through an entire slab of cake, you can bet on it.
You can have the same sense of “Why bother?” when you’re feeling cross for no apparent reason. You’ve already offended several people, so why not hitch the belt on those cranky pants another notch to really be sure they are firmly in place until you go to bed and feel better in the morning.
You can do that. Or you can use essential oils.
If there’s one way to dissolve the stitching on the drama duds, open any bottle of authentically pure essential oil, close your eyes and inhale, and the seams will start unravelling.
I can safely guarantee you there is no such thing as an essential oil that will put you into a bad mood. But some oils are stimulating and energising so if you’re cantankerous, winding you up won’t be as helpful as winding you down.
So here are a few of my favourites to consider next time you need to dispel the storm clouds hanging overhead. They are all Young Living essential oil blends. And if you don’t have them on hand, In Case of Emergency: Open Lavender. This Swiss Army Knife of essential oils is reliable for just about anything and easing out the kinks is where it especially shines.
- Young Living Peace & Calming (includes feel-good tangerine and orange plus patchouli, which was not the signature scent of every 70s peace, love and flower child by accident)
- Young Living Grounding (includes white fir for anchoring, ylang ylang for equilibrium and juniper which promotes a sense of love and peace)
- Young Living Harmony (includes sandalwood which is revered for meditation, the balancing oil of hyssop and spruce for grounding)
These blends are all beautiful in your diffuser and can be applied behind your ears and inhaled directly from the bottle. Essential oils are potent, so as always, please follow directions on the bottle and the usual guidelines for safe use of authentic essential oils.
We choose Young Living oils because they are guaranteed for purity from seed to seal. Discover why we love them so much in this short video.
